Restylane Dermal Fillers in Millburn, NJ

Dermal fillers are used to treat fine lines, wrinkles, and volume loss in different areas of the face. At our Millburn, New Jersey office, patients may receive any of the Restylane fillers, including the new lip plumper Kysse and the proprietary Refyne and Defyne formulations.

All Restylane products are FDA-approved for smoothing away wrinkles and restoring volume. Each filler is designed for a specific area of the face to ensure customized treatments and the most natural results to create a more youthful appearance.

Our board-certified dermatologists perform all injections to ensure optimal patient safety and satisfaction. Millburn Laser Center’s highly-trained doctors believe each patient’s skin is unique, so patients receive customized, personal treatment plans, according to their goals.

What Makes Restylane Unique?

Restylane is a line of hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal fillers that are manufactured by Galderma. Restylane fillers use the natural substance found in the skin, HA, to smooth out wrinkles and replenish lost volume.

HA naturally found in the skin slowly depletes as we age, which can cause the formation of fine lines and dry out our skin. Each of the Restylane dermal fillers is formulated with their own modified forms of HA to treat certain issues and areas of the face.

Our dermatology clinic offers Restylane, Kysse, Refyne and Defyne, Lyft, and Silk to treat a wide range of concerns.

As our skin ages, it loses more than just HA. Elastin and collagen are essential proteins that also slowly deplete, leading to skin laxity and facial lines. These changes cause common concerns like:

  • Nasolabial folds
  • Smile lines around the nose and mouth
  • Thinning lips
  • Hollowing in the mid face
  • Discoloration and fine lines under the eyes

Topical remedies might provide some improvement, but they don’t work deeper than the skin’s surface like fillers can. Learn more about each of the fillers Millburn Laser Center offers to discover which filler could be best for your specific concerns.

Restylane

Restylane, the first filler in this line, was designed to treat lines around the nose and mouth and restore volume.

This filler may be able to smooth away lines and folds in the lower portions of the face, including nasolabial folds and marionette lines. The filler can also be used to augment the lips.

Restylane Kysse

Restylane’s newest lip filler — Kysse — provides the three main characteristics that women and men want for injectable dermal fillers used in the lips. Kysse lips are:

  • Soft and natural feeling
  • Plump and pouty
  • Long-lasting (results up to one year!)

Restylane Kysse was developed with Galderma’s proprietary XpresHAn technology, which utilizes advanced tissue integration to achieve a natural and enhanced look. Kysse may also be used to smooth out the fine lines around the lips, known as the perioral lines.

Restylane Lyft

Restylane Lyft is the filler of choice for restoring youthful volume to the midface and hands. Lyft may also smooth out nasolabial folds. Improvements may last up to 12 months when used in the face and six months when used in the hands.

Restylane Refyne/Defyne

As with Kysse, Refyne and Defyne fillers were designed with XpresHAn technology, enabling this filler pair to offer natural results on shallow and deep lines on the face.

Both work best on nasolabial folds; Refyne for more superficial lines and Defyne for the deepest folds. These formulations may reduce lines while allowing you to still make regular facial expressions.

Restylane Silk

Originally created as a lip filler, Silk is now also used to address vertical lines above the upper lip, known as lipstick or smoker’s lines. Silk may reduce the appearance of these traditionally difficult to treat lines, while maintaining a natural result.

Who is a Good Candidate for Restylane?

Ideal cosmetic dermatology candidates for Restylane fillers are those 21 or older who are in good mental and physical health and who have realistic expectations for how fillers can address signs of aging or minor facial imperfections.

You should have healthy skin where you would like to have injections placed. Fillers may temporarily address mild to moderate signs of aging, so if your concerns are more severe, a combination of treatments might be best to give you the complete transformation you desire.

What to Expect During Your Consultation

During your Restylane consultation, a board-certified dermatologist will review your medical history and complete a full examination of the issues you want addressed.

After examining your facial anatomy and the quality of your skin, one of our doctors will create a customized treatment to fit your needs and goals. You will learn about the products that are best suited for you and about what to expect during your procedure.

Millburn Laser Center offers comprehensive cosmetic dermatology services, and we have more lasers than any other practice in the Central Jersey area. This means we can offer patients the best options to help them reach their aesthetic goals, using fillers, lasers, and more.

What to Expect During Your Restylane Procedure in Millburn

One of Millburn’s board-certified dermatologists will perform a series of injections, placed precisely where the fillers will be able to address facial lines and volume loss, but maintain a natural result.

Our doctors will use the amount of filler necessary to add lift and definition to the cheeks, smooth away lines and wrinkles, or plump the lips, but not so much product that you appear overdone or unnatural.

Your doctor may gently massage the injected areas to ensure an even distribution of the filler and apply ice to reduce any swelling or redness that may appear.

All Restylane products contain the anesthetic lidocaine, which helps minimize discomfort during your procedure, but you may request an additional numbing agent, if you’d like.

There is no required downtime after a Restylane injections procedure, and most patients return to their regular activities immediately following treatment.

You may see results immediately after your procedure, and results may last between 6 and 12 months, depending on the fillers you received, where they were placed, and how quickly your body absorbs the HA. Our doctors will help create a treatment schedule for you so you can maintain your desired results long-term.

Combining Restylane
with Another Treatment

With our office’s extensive list of treatment options and number of laser devices, our doctors are able to combine therapies to help patients achieve the best possible results. By combining treatments, outcomes can encompass multiple transformation goals.

When combining lasers with Restylane injections, patients may be able to receive both treatments in one visit, depending on the type of laser used. One of our doctors might recommend separating the treatments by a week or more to give your body time to heal.

We will typically perform any laser treatment first, followed by dermal filler injections at your next visit. If you receive a Restylane treatment and later decide you would also like a facial laser treatment, our doctors will likely be able to do this for you.

We can assess how your fillers have settled and how your face has healed so we can recommend the best next steps for your goals.

Restylane Cost

The cost of Restylane dermal filler treatments vary, depending on which areas are treated, how much product is needed, and how many syringes are used. Millburn can work within each patient’s budget to help achieve the desired result for the desired cost whenever possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is Restylane the right choice for me?

A: Restylane might be right for you if you are 21 or older and have specific concerns that can be addressed by this treatment. Patients typically choose Restylane to treat wrinkles around the nose and mouth, loss of volume in the cheeks, or thin lips. It is important to have realistic expectations about what this treatment can do for you.

Q: What happens during my first appointment?

A: Your consultation will involve discussing your concerns and goals with your doctor. Once your doctor at Millburn Laser Center determines Restylane is the right choice for you, you may be able to proceed with your treatment at that same appointment.

Q: Will the Restylane injections hurt?

A: Most patients find this treatment relatively comfortable, thanks to the tiny needles and micro-cannulas we use to administer the filler and the anesthetic lidocaine incorporated into each of these fillers. After treatment, you might experience some mild swelling or soreness, but these side effects typically subside within a few hours.

Q: Is there downtime after a Restylane treatment?

A: You will not need to take any time off for this procedure. Most patients return to work and other regular activities immediately following their appointment.

Q: What are the alternatives to Restylane?

A: Although Restylane is beneficial for many of our patients, it’s not the best choice for everyone. Wrinkles on the upper face are often better addressed using a neuromodulator like Botox. Irregular skin texture, brown spots, and some fine lines can be more effectively treated with a laser device. Other skin renewal treatments include microneedling, and chemical peels.
